Doc W. today reduced my cardio rehab sessions to once a week and said I might have another two or three decades left after my quad bypass. But if you’re not as optimistic about your own prospects, here’s some News You Can Use. The latest craze in funerals is to include an iPod in the casket, so that the e-hip dead can enjoy music or other entertainment in the afterlife. Does this mean that my family should bury me with my iPod Touch—and the Stanza program displaying The Great Gatsby in ePub?

Ok. I’ve avoided memes to this point but since Ari Herzog tagged me to participate, I will. I’m trying really really hard to get on Ari’s A List without having to actually meet him so I’m hoping that meme participation will help me out. Now if you didn’t get the sarcasm in that last sentence that’s because a) I’m a crappy writer and b) html still doesn’t have the sarcasm tags which I’ve been waiting for for a VERY long time. What am I talking about here? Oh yes. 7 things about me. I’m saying

Bill Kreutzmann, Grateful Dead drummer for the band’s entire thirty year career, will be throwing a New Years concert in his home town in Hawaii. If you can afford the ticket or live in the area, it’s definitely a show not to be missed for all you Dead-Heads. Kreutzmann is joined on stage in Maui by Austin bluesman Papa Mali, James “Hutch” Hutchinson (bass guitar/Bonnie Raitt Band), and Matt Hubbard (piano/Willie Nelson Band) for two nights of music on December 29th and 31st. Kreutzmann’s

There’s something to be said for catching a band right after it releases its best album to date – when the set list reads like a future greatest hits compilation. It’s even better to see a band on their home turf, even if it means standing out in the cold for 20 minutes waiting to get up to the ticket counter. Just as their album Furr was making various best of 2008 music lists, Blitzen Trapper returned home to Portland’s Wonder Ballroom, and to a full house after a long North American tour. As

Amazing. The best part of this whole incident was when CBS News interrupted during half time of the Jets game with news about President Bush in Baghdad everyone in the room thought he had been killed, but this is even better:And the Austin Powers version:The funny thing is that shoes in the Middle East are serious. It is the ultimate sign of disrespect.////////Andrew Bird & Yo Yo Ma with a sweet freestyle jam, classical style:null |MTV Music////////This past weekend was Warren Haynes' annual Chr

Around And Around - Grateful Dead 5.11.77 - Civic Center Arena, St. Paul, Minnesota I love these songs immensely, so when you put them all together it really does it for me. I should note that often Space just doesn’t do much for me. I can get way too lost in a 10 or 15 minute version of space to really keep sight of any theme or emotion the band is trying to hold. (Which is interesting consider my deep love for all things Dark Star… essentially

Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead 4.14.78 - Cassell Coliseum, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg VA The Dead played my alma mater once, 11+ years before I enrolled. It was at Virginia Tech where I discovered the Dead, and thus 4/14/78 became one of my most listened tapes in college. You will need some time to listen to this jewel, so you might want to save it for later when you have plenty of time to soak it in. Enjoy.

Check out the Grateful Dead poster I scored from an online dealer. It was done by my favorite artist, surfer, the late Rick Griffin for a Hawaiian concert that the Dead performed. I like Griffin’s work, as he was one of the more influential underground artists in the 60’s-70’s.
